We exhibit what can be termed as “hedonistic reciprocity”, reflecting towards others the deeds we receive, whether in similar vein or varying quotas; unconditional is often only a virtue we fantasise to possess, yet even in these fantasies we hastily bestow it upon ourselves. But to what end? Will this exaggeration of our ethical might prevent us from actualising our fantasies. Or are we secretly content with the bubble of unearned moral superiority.

It appears the path to empowerment starts with the elevation of the marginalised group above their non-marginalised counterparts; we are driven by competition, and success is measured relative to the next person or their feats. A true belief and content in and with equality thus remain an abstract pursuit or state.

Decisions

There are usually two ways we approach decisions: there is the logical choice and there is the subjective (usually emotional) choice. Usually, we choose the second and dance around for a while. Then we seek advice from more “experienced” ones. These “experienced ones” are simply folks who are 1. smarter than us so they see the logical decision and why it is the only choice. 2. have learnt by experiencing the first decision and know it doesn’t work.
